Biodegradable plastics are defined as being capable of being decomposed by bacteria or other living organisms. Biodegradable plastics do not typically decompose unless properly disposed of. The natural breakdown of the plastic will not occur if it is simply tossed in a landfill with other trash. Disposing of biodegradable plastics made from natural materials in a landfill enviroment will result in the plastic lasting for hundreds of years. There is a concern that methane gas and some metals might be released when any biodegradable material truly degrades in a landfill enviroment. There are too many questions left unanswered. We have chosen not to make that transition at this time. Our eggs can be recycled along with your other plastics.
